One of the former charges by Ruben Amorim is reportedly a target for Manchester United, because they want to strengthen their midfield options, and the Red Devils have a secret weapon in the chase
Although Christian Eriksen may have pulled the curtain during his career in Manchester United, he could still be instrumental in the transfer plans of the club this summer. Or at least with regard to the fate of a rumor transfer goal in colleague Dane Morten Hjulmand.
The sporty CP midfielder is said to be on the United wish list while they want to strengthen the engine room. And Eriksen, who left Old Trafford this summer after three years, could help his former club secure his own successor.
The Manchester Evening News report Juventus and Manchester City also compete to understand the defensive midfielder of Sporting. Nevertheless, Portuguese suggested a Bola every day that they would all have their star leave if his £ 69 million release clause is activated.
That amount could be too steep for United to close a deal this summer, although the influence of Eriksen could decorate the scales in their direction. Hjulmand, who was also on the United wish list last summer, regards his international colleague as a mentor figure, while his existing band with Ruben Amorim will also strengthen his position.
Despite the breaking of ties with the Red Devils this summer, Eriksen seemed to leave on excellent conditions. And he especially praised Amorim and his contribution since he took over from Erik ten Hag last fall.
“The manager arrived with new ideas,” said the Danish faithful in March. “He is a very honest guy, simple, and we just try to adjust and get into the system and habits in his playing style.
“He is a good manager. With a little more conviction as we had in the second half, we were able to create opportunities, more people commit offensively and then we got a few opportunities.”
Sporting has been established to have a tidy profit for Hjulmand if they receive something near his release clause, or that will occur this summer or in the near future. The defensive midfielder arrived in Portugal from the Italian side in the summer of 2023, where the club secured its signature for a reasonable fee of £ 17 million.
He claimed the Primeira Liga title under Amorim during his debut campaign in the club before he received the bracelet from the captain in July 2024.
Hjulmand would also be reunited with colleague Danes Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu and Chido Obi in Manchester. And he has previously outlined the favorable impact that Amorim has had on his development and said that he was “sad” to see him leave Lisbon.
“Ruben was one of the reasons why I came to the sport,” said the midfielder during the international break last November. “If you are coached by him, you get a clear idea of the way he sees football and how he sees us are part of the team.
“It is a very important picture for the player, to know what his role is, what he can contribute to the team. It was very important when I came to Sporting. The way he sees the players, how he manages the team and off the field … It is something I have never seen in my career. Manchester United will be in good hands with Ruben.”
