Barcelona will continue their wave of contract extensions with Eric Garcia, the last to reach an agreement with the club. The former man in Manchester City is ready to sign a new long -term contract after earning a place in Hansi Flick's plans.
Garcia was one of the most talented prospects in La Masia when he left as a teenager for City, where he made his debut and became a rotation option for Pep Guardiola. At the age of 20, Garcia no longer had a contract and agreed to return to the Catalan giants and return in 2021.
According to Sport, Barcelona and Garcia have already reached an agreement on a new five -year contract that will bind him to the club until 2030. His current deal will end next season and in January it looked as if he would leave the club for the second time, but whether he was playing in midfield, in midfield, at Centrum-back or most recently on the right, Garcia earned Flicks Trust, and one of the primary alternatives for the starting XI.
They say that the German manager had explicitly asked that Garcia would be kept at the club because he appreciates the versatility and tactical intelligence of the 24-year-old.
Garcia will follow on the renewal of Jules Kounde, announced by the Frenchman on Wednesday, with Frenkie de Jong because of his contract as well. The news breaks only a few days after it was made public, that the young right back Hector Fort is for sale, even if the teenager is reluctant to continue.
This may not be a coincidence. With Kounde wounded for the semi -final of the Champions League, and El Clasico, Garcia has done well as his replacement on the right, and may have convinced Barcelona that he can be the most important alternative to Kounde. In the spring, right back was cited as one of Barcelona's priorities in the summer transfer market.
