Nate Diaz vs. Max Holloway has all the start of a BMF title fight.
It does not seem that the BMF title is going somewhere after Max Holloway's first successful title defense against Dustin Poirier on UFC 318 earlier this month. Holloway also came up again in the lightweight title photo with the unanimous decision about his old rival.
After the victory, former title -seconder and superstar Nate Diaz continues to wear Holloway 'my belt', referring to a potentially BMF title fight.
Of course Diaz is a free agent and if he returned, it would probably be with Welterweight, a weight class over Holloway.
Although the BMF title fight would certainly sell on pay-per-view, an old referee says that it would not be a great fight.

John McCarthy says Max Holloway Nate Diaz would dominate
'Big' John McCarthy, the legendary official who seduced the Diaz 2016 rematch with Conor McGregor and many other iconic fights, believes that Holloway would have his way with the much older Diaz.
Diaz, 40, has not fought in the UFC for almost three years, while Holloway looked better than ever in his last two fights at lightweight and both Poirier and Justin beat Gaethje.
“I'm honest. I don't think it's a great fight,” McCarthy said about the roads in Podcast.
“It's not a great fight. It would be a one -sided fight,” McCarthy went on.
“Max is much faster than Nate. He moves a lot. Nate is not doing well with people who are going well.
“Even [Josh Thomson]You have movement that caused him problems during the fight and then he was young, and he was not slower …
“I'm honest. I look at that and it's a matter of Nate Diaz – how long can he last for a long time without just cut him as if he has a razor in his hand and it is stopped on cuts?”
Diaz is twice in his career, once through a main kick by Josh Thomson in 2013 and the other was a doctor's stop TKO because of a cut around his eye in his fight against Jorge Masvidal in 2019.
Max Holloway vs. Nate Diaz would be fifth BMF title fight in the history of UFC
Dustin Poirier is the only shot that challenges twice for the BMF title of the UFC, both times that is not successful. Diaz could possibly be the second.
Diaz expressed his desire in a UFC -Comepack earlier this year, with Holloway one of the names on his hit list.
So far there have only been four fights for the BMF belt since the inaugural title was at stake between Diaz and Jorge Masvidal on UFC 244 in 2019.
Jorge Masvidal defeats Nate Diaz on UFC 244 (2019) Justin Gaethje defeats Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 (2023) Max Holloway defeats Justin Gaethje on UFC 300 (2024) Max Holloway Verslaat Dustin Poir on UFC 318 (2025)
Time will learn or Holloway vs. Diaz is part of the BMF titll line.
