Real Madrid has their most active transfer window in a number of summers, with four signing sessions that have already been confirmed. However, there is uncertainty about the role of one of the most important members of the recruitment operation.
Los Blancos is very subject to President Florentino Perez, but general manager Jose Angel Sanchez and Chief Scout June Calafat have a lot of influence in their transfer industry. There has been doubt about how much impact he has at Valdebebas, but sports director Santiago Solari is in theory one of the five loudest votes in the club, together with the manager.
Solari took over on a temporary basis in 2018, but only took a matter of months before he was moved upstairs and Zinedine Zidane returned to the club. Onda Cero (Via MD) has reported that Solari is considering continuing with his role at Real Madrid, in an attempt to return to management.
The ex-Argentina International was in charge of Castilla before he was the senior side and then had an enchantment in Cruz Azul in Mexico before he returned to the Bernabeu in 2022.
But only a few hours later Cadena Cope denied that this was the case and said that Solari was satisfied with his role at the club and his work. Los Blancos spent € 63 million this summer on his personal bet in Franco Mastantuono, a player for whom he argued and then negotiated.
Real Madrid has been much more active this summer and Alonso is expected to have a much stronger attitude in the transfer activities. Carlo Ancelotti was fairly forgiving when it came to the means at his disposal, but it was clear that there was a desire to rebuild the defense this summer. The big debate that Alonso wants to bring in a midfielder, less convinced with the club.
