Ferran Torres enters Barcelona captaincy debate after Seoul win

That Barcelona captain will be at the beginning of the 2025/26 season, remains unclear while the Marc-Andre ter Stegen Saga Rolls on.

The Germany International will miss the start of the new campaign after the club had confirmed the back operation for their current number 1.

However, that only tells a part of the story of Ter Stegen, amid a dazzling row about his future in Catalonia in the coming months.

Ter Stegen is unhappy with the attempts by Barcelona to discharge him after the decision to sign Joan Garcia, where Hansi already informs him that he will be the third choice this season.

After he had taken the daring step to announce that he would be out of trade for three months after the operation, it was seen as a deliberate attempt to stop Barcelona who activated the emergency injury rule and use part of his salary limit room to register Garcia.

That impasse has led rumors to be permanently removed as a captain with film that is now involved in the decision about who the bracelet is taking.

After Barcelona's 7-3 preseason on FC Seoul, Frenkie de Jong offered his support to Ter Stegen, with the Dutch star one of the candidates to replace him.

“For me, Marc Team Captain, just like he was last season. Marc is a world -class player and has always given everything for the club, so I support Marc a lot, and what I know, the team too.”

Ronald Araujo started as a captain in Seoul, where Gavi took over the peace and Ferran Torres was employed during the last ten minutes.

Torres admitted that the team does not know whether there will be a vote on the captain, but hinted that he could be interested in becoming a member of the Captains Group.

“If it is only important for a player to put on this shirt, imagine what it means to have the capincy. It motivates me to keep working and hopefully there will be many more options to wear the bracelet,” according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona will close their tours against Daegu FC on August 4, before returning to Catalonia for the Joan Gamper Trophy vs. Como.
