OFFICIAL: Spurs youth Mikey Moore completes loan deal to Rangers

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur-young Mikey Moore for a seasonal loan agreement.

The deal does not include an option or an obligation to buy the 17-year-old who has been advanced by Spurs since the age of seven.

Moore, who can play over the front line as a winger or no. 10, is considered one of the most exciting prospects of Tottenham.

The England U19 International became the youngest Spurs player who came up in the Premier League just over a year ago and made 12 league matches.

Moore also played five times during the Europa League-winning campaign of Tottenham and scored his first goal for the club in a group stage victory on Elfsborg.

He becomes Rangers' and new head coach Russell Martin's eighth signing of the summer, after loan agreements for Nasser Djiga and Max Aarons and permanent transfers Lyall Cameron, Emmanuel Fernandez, Joe Rothwell, Thelo Baasgaard and Djeidi Gassama.

Moore: I have always loved Rangers

After drawing for the Ibrox club, Moore spoke on a seasonal loan: “I am excited to get started. As soon as I heard that Rangers was interested and wanted me to come, it was a huge opportunity for me.

“I am excited to be here and hopefully I can show the fans and everyone what I can do.

“I have always held as a club of Rangers. My family has always loved them.

“I think with the new boss and the way we play, it is a great place to be at the moment. It was a fairly easy decision for me to get here.”

Martin: Moore can have an immediate impact

Martin added: “We are very happy to loan Mikey for this season.

“His profile as a brave, aggressive attacking player is one that we wanted to add to the team, and he is certainly a player who, despite his age, can have an impact on the team from the first day.

“He is a player with enormous potential, and it is proof of his quality that he has been entrusted by Spurs in both the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League in the last 18 months.”

Sports director Kevin Thelwell said: “It is no secret that there was a lot of interest from elsewhere in Mikey and we are pleased that he chose Rangers at this stage in his career.

“He became familiar with Spurs last year and it is a reflection of his temperament and quality as a player that he had an immediate impact at a senior level that requires the best.

“We are convinced that Mikey is a player who will improve our attacking unit. He steps into an ambitious, demanding environment that will test him, supports him and offers the platform to deliver and fulfill his potential, for the benefit of both himself and the club.”
