Gavi claims Real Madrid are ‘still worried’ over Barcelona’s 2024/25 dominance

Barcelona Gavi has Light the El Clasico Touch Paper before the start of 2025/26 La Liga season this month.

La Blaugrana stormed to a trophy -Treble in 2024/25 when Hansi Flick de la Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles landed in his debut campaign.

The success of Barcelona was underlined by their tight grip in collisions with Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti ended the season without trophy.

Ancelotti's May exit was quickly followed by the return from Xabi Alonso to Madrid, but the former midfielder bowed in the semi -final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Barcelona won at home last season and against Real Madrid in League Action with a spectacular 4-0 win in the Spanish capital and a 4-3 home victory in May.

In addition to beating Ancelotti in the Copa del Rey and Super Cup Finals with respective score lines of 3-2 and 5-2, those results came alongside.

Gavi has often been a thorn in the side of Real Madrid and he admitted that the psychological barrier was the key in 2024/25, but a revival is on the maps.

“Of course they were worried. They were four victories of four games, and that has never happened before,” according to Diario ALS.

“It is understandable that they are worried. In the end we were spectacular last season and they won nothing.

“This year they have strengthened themselves with some very good players, to be honest, but we will see what they will do this season. They have a great team, but we have to be ourselves, and that's it.”

Barcelona goes to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the first El Clasico of the 2025/26 season on 26 October with the reverse fixture planned back in Catalonia before 10 May.

That second game lands in Game Week 35 and can be a title decision -maker between the two arch rivals, plus the potential to meet each other in both cup matches at the beginning of 2026.
