According to a Romano, Newcastle has rejected a formal offer of Liverpool for Willaway Star striker Alexander Isak.
The Reds had previously held an informal approach for the 25-year-old, who did not fall with his teammates from Magpies during their tour through Asia and trained in his former club, Real Sociedad.
Liverpool showed an interest in closing a deal in the £ 120 million region, but according to athletics, the Premier League champions have now seen an official offer.
The Outlet claims that Newcastle has tried to convince Swede to sign a new contract that would have recorded a release clause for next summer and has encouraged him to remain 'by senior teammates'.
However, this has not proved successful in changing Isak's desire to leave St James' park.
