Real Madrid announce first preseason friendly against WSG Tirol

Real Madrid is preparing for the 2025/26 season with the first previous season -friendly of the summer in cooler climates. The team of Xabi Alonso Travel to Austria for a meeting with WSG Tyrol in Innsbruck on Tuesday 12 August.

The friendly match is Madrid's first outing since their defeat against PSG at the club World Cup on July 9. During the tournament Los Blancos stood for Al-Hilal (1-1), Pachuca (3-1), RB Salzburg (1-3), Juventus (1-0) and Borussia Dortmund (3-2) for their elimination in the Semifinals.

Madrid regularly held a summer phase in Austria in the past and last played a preseason game there in 2021, a scoreless draw with AC Milan in Klagenfurt.

Real Madrid's record against Austrian teams

In the past they have met Austrian teams a total of 25 times in different competitions with a total balance of 15 victories, six draws and four defeats. This will be the first time that Real Madrid and WSG Tyrol face each other. WSG Tyrol ended in 10th place last season, their sixth consecutive campaign in the Austrian Bundesliga.

And of course Innsbruck has many happy memories for Spanish football fans, because it was where the Spain -side of Luis Aragonés was located during their triumphant euro 2008 campaign.

The pre -season -friendly between WSG Tyrol and Real Madrid takes place at Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck, Austria on Tuesday 12 August 2025 with a kick -off planned at 13:00 EST / 10.00 PST.

The men of Xabi Alonso start the new Laliga season a week later, at home on Osasuna on August 19.
