Sunderland take spending up to £122M by announcing 8th signing

Sunderland has brought their summer expenditure to a record high after completing their eighth new signature of the summer.

Regis Le Bris led the Black Cats back to the Premier League via the play-offs almost a decade of quantities outside the top flight.

And with promoted parties who find it increasingly difficult to avert the fall in recent years, Le Bris has wasted little time to strengthen his ranks for the coming campaign.

On Friday Sunderland announced the signing of the Dutch goalkeeper Robin Roefs of NEC in a deal with a report of £ 11.5 million.

The 22-year-old Dutch Youth International enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Eredivisie last season, making 10 League Clean Sheets when NEC ended a respectable 8th under Dick Schreuder.

The summer spending of Sunderland has now exceeded £ 122 million, more than double their previous record for a Premier League season.

Earlier this week, the club completed the signing of veteran -midfielder Granit Xhaka van Bayer Leverkusen in a movement worth £ 17 million.

Xhaka spent seven years in North Londs between 2016 and 2023 and made nearly 300 performances for Arsenal in all competitions.

The 32-year-old spent the last two seasons in Bayer Leverkusen and was part of the side of Xabi Alonso who secured the very first Bundesliga title of the club while starting an unprecedented 51 game undefeated run.

However, the former Arsenal star is not the only new arrival in midfield.

Enzo Le Fee has completed a permanent move to the Stadium of Light of Roma after 11 performances on loan during the promotional costs of last season.

“I said before the play -off final that my heart was in Sunderland,” said Le Fee.

“I wanted to stay, and this made it the most important game of my life.”

Senegal International Habib Diarra was brought in from Strasbourg for a club record costs to replace the gorge that was left in midfield after the departure of Jowe Bellingham.

He joins the 20-year-old Noah Sadiki as another addition to the center of the park.

In the meantime, experienced left back Reinildo has also become a member of the club after it in the Champions League for Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone last season.

Former Brighton star Simon Adingra and promising young wing player Chemsdine Talbi have also become at the club this summer.

In the meantime, Chelsea striker has chosen Marc Guiu to join the club to a seasonal loan.

The 19-year-old had attracted an interest in a number of clubs, in particular the city of Ipswich, but Chelsea wanted the teenager Premier League experience to appear.

Sunderland had also shown interest in Chelsea's DEIV Washington who has been on loan at Santos, but the move for Guiu represents a different coup in what proves a busy summer for the Wearside Club.

Guiu cost Chelsea £ 5 million from Barcelona last year and scored six goals in 16 games during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

His progress was hampered by a hamstring injury that brought him offside between February and May, but he was back in time for the Conference Competition -Final against Real Betis, which came as a late replacement.

The Black Cats start their Premier League season at home on West Ham on August 16.
