Alexander Isak has already won a stir while looking at Liverpool to secure his transfer, but a hero in Newcastle has said that he might have to do more to leave the club without any other option
If Liverpool has to get hold of this summer in Newcastle United Talisman Alexander Isak, they need him to 'throw his toys out of the pram'. According to former Eksters Vooruit Les Ferdinand, who confirmed his old club “under no pressure” to cash in.
On Friday, Newcastle rejected Liverpool's first formal bid for their player. The Reds have previously done an unofficial investigation to sign Isak in the midst of rumors about a £ 120 million deal, but an opening offer has now been rejected.
Isak, 25, did not come to his teammates during their summer tour through Asia and has individually trained in his previous club, Real Sociedad. It was suggested that Newcastle Isak, who has been talking about his current contract for three years, wants him to sign a new deal with a release clause that would come into force next summer.
However, all signs suggest that the player is planning to leave in the current transfer window. And Ferdinand, who scored 50 goals in 84 matches for Newcastle, has already made it clear that Liverpool might need a little more help from Isak's side to force a movement.
The former international English international told the goal in March: “If they lose Isak, they go back two or three levels, because where do you find another striker like him? What they have to do is convince him that this club is going in the right direction, and I am sure they do that regularly.
“Everyone is talking about him every week, this club is interested or that club is interested. That is somehow a compliment for him and the club that he has been able to perform. They signed it on a big contract and he has a few years left, so they have no pressure to sell unless he throws his toys out of the Pram.”
Isak has already done this to a certain extent by refusing to join How's team in their preparations for the season. But with a month to walk in the transfer window and the start of the Premier League campaign on just fourteen days, an uncomfortable few weeks are waiting in the northeast.
Liverpool has been a serious transfer offensive this summer after he has hardly closed a company in the first year of Arne Slot at the helm. The MerseSiders broke all the British transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that may be worth £ 116.5 million.
That is a supplement to the arrivals of Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mhaldashvili, in total a combined £ 165 million. But the reigning champions of England seem to be intended to still have an explanation that Isak signed to complete their edition.
The risk for Newcastle is that they choose to perhaps force their most valuable property to stay in the club while he is unhappy. This can influence the results on the field, which can reduce its value and means that they are not as great as a large amount in a future transfer window.
Once seen as the golden child of the Newcastle revival in recent years, the gesture from Isak to the exit of St. James' Park has already lowered its status with some fans. And Liverpool will hope that the player has the Gumption to further protest if it helped to punish a deal.
