Benjamin Sesko reportedly made his decision about where he will play next season after months of speculation.
The RB Leipzig striker is central to a fierce transfer battle between Manchester United and Newcastle, where both clubs identify the 22-year-old as an important summer goal.
Now a report in Slovenia claims that the highly appreciated attacker has settled during his next step and it could cause a big stir in the Premier League shot market.
According to Delo, Sesko has decided to become a member of Newcastle, with the Magpies who beat a strong competition from Old Trafford to land one of Europe's most promising young attackers.
The Slovenian outlet reports that Newcastle's proposal won after a long -term saga in which Arsenal, United and Newcastle were all linked.
Arsenal stopped earlier this summer and instead opted for Viktor Gyokeres, while United had drawn their full attention to Sesko after ending their pursuit of Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
The interest of United was led by director of recruitment of Christopher Vivell, who previously worked with Sesko in RB Salzburg and the 6ft 4 Forward described as the potential to become one of the world's best strikers.
Manager Ruben Amorim had also made him a priority after he had already brought in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to strengthen the attack.
But Sesko would now have chosen in Newcastle – a decision that may be closely linked to the uncertain future of Alexander Isak.
Mail Sport revealed on Friday that Liverpool had rejected an £ 110 million bid for Isak, with Newcastle persisting £ 150 million.
Isak is supposed to insist on a move and has only trained in the former club Real Sociedad, after he has achieved the pre-season tour of the Magpies with an apparent thigh problem.
Newcastle has made it clear that there will be no sale unless a suitable replacement is protected – and Sesko has long been top of their wish list.
The Bundesliga side signed Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 and has an informal agreement to allow him to leave if a suitable offer is made.
It is understanding that Newcastle is expected to pay Leipzig somewhere between £ 60 million and £ 70 million plus add-ons.
Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and has 16 goals in 41 senior performances for Slovenia. He has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland for his mix of height, pace and technical skills and is seen by Newcastle as a ready-made replacement if Isak would get his wish.
As far as man United is concerned, they can now be forced to explore alternatives. Amorim's silk struggled bad for the goal last season and hoped that Sesko would be the last piece in a forward line of the new look.
The future of Rasmus Hojlund remains unclear, where the Dane meets that he wants to stay and fight for his place – but competition was always expected.
United also made inquiries for Yoane Wissa van Brentford, while Jorgen Strand Larsen van Wolves was also discussed.
