According to reports, the Bodyguard from Lionel Messi has been suspended for 'incorrect behavior' for the rest of the Leagues Cup.
After an incident in the Inter Miami match against Atlas this week, the disciplinary committee confirmed that an employee of the MLS club was suspended.
An explanation was: 'After the Inter Miami CF vs. Club Atlas match of 30 July showed a member of the club delegation of Inter Miami incorrect behavior through limited areas without an official event references.
“In accordance with the Leagues Cup 2025 Tournament regulations, the disciplinary committee suspended the person involved from all technical areas for the rest of Leagues Cup 2025 and an unknown fine issued to Inter Miami CF.”
ESPN has since reported that the individual in question is none other than Messi's personal Bodyguard Yassine Cheuko.
Cheuko was seen in the field – after the last whistle – to break a discussion between the two groups of players and to make contact with individuals from Atlas.
An Atlas star then dealt with the problem in his press conference after the game and insisted that Cheuko had no permission to enter the field.
Defender Matheus Doria said: 'We already know that our board works very well and will cause the problem.
'I understand that Messi's bodyguard is there to protect Messi against a possible entry by a fan, I don't know, but between players he doesn't have that permission.
'It is not up to us to say much or to give our opinion about this, but the board and those who are in charge of the Leagues Cup have already seen it and will take the lead about what can and cannot be done.
'Because as long as it not only protects Messi, but also the other players, and the physical integrity of the players there are, that is fine. But if it is for other issues, nobody will agree, but it is not up to me to do something. '
After serving a suspension of one match, Messi returned to action for Inter Miami in the match against Atlas and gave assists for both goals in the 2-1 win.
The news came three months after Cheuko claimed that he had been banned for MLS and Concacaf competitions.
Speaking with House of Highlights, he said in April: 'They don't allow me to be on the field. I had worked in Europe for Ligue 1 and the Champions League for seven years, and only six people invaded the field.
