Max Holloway responds to claims that he pulled back against Dustin Poirier… ‘There are people talking madness’

Only a few weeks away from his UFC 318 BMF title fight against Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway has thought about what a big victory in his career was.

Last July Max Holloway Dustin Poirier recorded in 'The Diamond's' Retirement Fight on UFC 318, in a trilogy that has spanned over 13 years.

The former UFC champion Vederweight made promotional history and was successfully defended the first hunter to defend the BMF title, which was held by three hunters.

After the fight, Holloway called for a rematch against Ilia Topuria, who won the empty lightweight title only a few weeks before the fight of Hawaiian in Louisiana.

Holloway responds to claims that he withdrew to Dustin Poirier

Although fans expected a cheeky fighting back and forth, it did not play exactly, although both hunters had their moments of success during the five rounds.

In the opening round, 'blessed' dropped the former interim light weight champion with a nice combination and bounced him in an attempt to end the fight.

However, fans and former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling claimed online that Holloway withdrew to Poirier, deliberately did not try to finish him.

“I'm going to tackle this, because people talk about madness who say that I easily went to Dustin in the first round after I dropped him and that I left him off the hook because I didn't want his pension fight to go so fast,” Holloway began to explain in a video on his YouTube channel.

“I am so, no, I wish the pension fight (went fast). In my mind I hit him and I am something like that, oh my God, we get away here in one round, let's go, but Dustin is strong like nails. I put it on him, I kept beating him and he would just not go away, his name is the diamond for a reason,” Hollowayay went further.

Holloway offers disappointing return date

Although he has come out of the fight against Poirier relatively undamaged, Holloway has revealed that he will probably be out of operation for a little time.

'Blessed' was hopeful to return before the end of the year, possibly to fight against Ilia Topuria or Charles Oliveira, but he stated that he will no longer fight this year due to a brutal hand injury suffered in the fight.
