Liverpool reportedly contacted the representatives of Real Madrid -wing player Rodrygo while pursuing them on attacking reinforcements after their rejected bid on Alexander Isak
Liverpool reportedly contacted Rodrygo from Real Madrid after their initially failed attempt to sign Alexander Isak.
After an £ 110 million for the Newcastle striker, it was rejected in favor of a price tag of £ 150 million, Liverpool has cooled their interest in the Swedish attacker for the time being.
Despite the efforts of Isak to insure a move to Anfield, including rejecting a new contract in the northeast and training with his former club Real Sociedad, he will now join the team after their Tour Far East.
After Luis Diaz's £ 65.5 million move to Bayern Munich, Liverpool still wants to strengthen their attack. Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott are also expected to leave Merseyside this summer in search of more playing time.
According to ESPN Brazil, Liverpool has contacted the representatives of Rodrygo in the light of recent events before making an official offer. The 24-year-old, who is also connected to Arsenal, is supposed to have agreed personal conditions with the current Premier League champions.
Rodrygo has fallen out of favor with Xabi Alonso in Real Madrid, who prioritizes Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius JR, which means that Rodrygo is considering moving to England. He is appreciated at around £ 70 million, the Express reports.
But clubs are now aware that Liverpool still has money to spend, after they have been poured out on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong for almost £ 300 million, after Eddie Howe had confirmed an offer for Isak.
“I really don't know what happens next,” said Howe on Tour in Asia. “From our perspective we still support Alex in all ways, and my wish is that we see him again in a Newcastle shirt.
“It is difficult because you don't know what is going to happen. There can be all kinds of talks and are hypothetical situations, but then you have to deal with reality.
“The reality is that we had the first bid from Liverpool yesterday. I believe that it was rejected, from this point, let's see what is happening. I have no idea to predict that.”
However, Rodrygo can be a superior stylistic competition compared to Isak, since Liverpool has already spoken £ 79 million for striker Ekitike.
The Brazilian could prevent on the left flank – his favorite position despite working on the right wing in Madrid – to connect the void created by Diaz's departure.
Ekitike would lead the attack centrally, instead of working together to work together as previously proposed, where Wirtz and Mohamed Salah offer support in a devastating front line of four people.
