Manchester United -defender Luke Shaw admits that he believes that he “failed” former manager Erik ten Hag.
Now responsible for Bayer Leverkusen, Ten Hag was fired last season by United for Christmas and replaced by Ruben Amorim.
Shaw explained with the athletics: “I felt a bit that I failed Erik with all the injuries and everything.
“I was not there for him by the end and it was not fun. Much of last season I just had the feeling that I was disappointing many people in the club and in the team because I was constantly injured.
“Maybe that was not the case in reality, but in my head it was really difficult. I blamed myself a lot. It was really difficult. I don't want to go too much in detail.”
Luke Shaw's Injury Flash Score
The 2024/25 season was a nightmazing campaign for Shaw, which was able to play only 12 games due to injuries.
The left back admits that he is one that he wants to place behind him.
“I think last season is one that you would rather forget,” Shaw added. “I have had injuries before, but last season it was a kind of injury again. It was terrible.
“It started with the doctor and I have never had a medical injury in my life, so I wasn't used to it. It was a completely different kind of rehabilitation and the like. Things just kept happening.”
