Sonnen who preferred to see the former two-weight champion fighting Tom Aspinall, claimed that Pereira might never overcome Ankalaev's stylistic matchup in his career.
“Alex is not going to beat Ankalaev. This is a factual explanation,” said Sonnen on his YouTube channel.
“They have already fought. There was nothing in that competition that you would believe that if we did it again, we would change the results.”
With a victory over Ankalaev, Pereira would start his light heavyweight title for the second time, after he had previously kept the middleweight of the promotion for a short period.
