Bruno Fernandes slams ‘lazy’ Man Utd and wants more signings after Everton draw

Bruno Fernandes criticized Manchester United because he was 'lazy' in their draw with Everton in Atlanta, and claimed that it underlined the need for the club to get more new signing sessions this summer.

United ended their American tour by winning the Premier League Summer Series and staying unbeaten in the preseason, but were tied twice in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Although Fernandes scored from the penalty spot and an assist for Mason Mount's second goal to remove the man-of-the-match award, the United Captain was unhappy with the display of the team in Georgia.

“Our achievements were not the best off the ball,” he said. 'We were a bit lazy and we should avoid that because the laziness that you can pay at any time.

“It improves. It is not where we want it to be. I don't want to dig up anyone, but I think the club does the best they can do in terms of all the financial situations they are talking about.

“I don't know, I'm not involved. But it was clearly crystal clear that we needed more competition for the players who were here. We needed more quality to let everyone perform a little more, to have to do more to get to the starting XI. I think that is what the club and the manager are trying to do, and hopefully we can get one or two more players to help with that.

'Every small detail is important. At this football club you can do nothing wrong on the field and outside the field because it is too large worldwide and is punished.

'You get the attention of the media and your fans and you have to be aware of that. In this club the culture was winning here and we have to bring it back. Not only the winning mentality we need, and I think that has always been there, but if you don't win, you don't show it.

'The club tries to improve other things. The facilities have improved, we have tried to improve the team, the staff, many things.

'Many people had problems with this, many people who had worked in the club for many years had to go. The fans pay more for tickets, and we appreciate all the trouble they have put for us, so now it is up to us to pay it back on the field. '
