At their first home appearance since lifting the Premier League trophy in May, the Reds opposite the La Liga side will be confronted in two separate games and start at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. UTC.

The opportunity will also be a moving because the team and the supporters are reuniting for the first time on Anfield since the tragic death of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, last month.

In his column of the MatchDay program, head coach Slot writes: “It will be great to be back at Anfield for the first time since we have lifted the Premier League trophy in May, and we all look forward to that.

“Of course we know that this will also be an emotional opportunity, because we are the first time we have played at home since we have lost Diogo. I know you want to pay your tribute before, during and after the matches, and I know we will hear his song sound the entire evening.

“It was a difficult time for everyone who was connected to the club, but especially for the family of Diogo, his wife, his children and friends.

“We cannot imagine the pain they have experienced, and the club will continue to give them all the support they can continue. We will always carry him in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go.

“The death of Diogo has had a major impact on all of us, but what is so important is the love and care that is shown from the football world, and in particular of course the FC community of Liverpool.

“In Anfield, in the AXA Training Center, in Preston North End and during our recent tour through Hong Kong and Japan, we really felt what DIOGO meant for everyone and how our fans are together.

“I also want to mention the strength and courage of my players here. They have in one of the most difficult positions you can find yourself, but the way they came together and the way they have behaved, in and out of the field, is an honor to them and this football club. We really couldn't ask the boys and I am extremely proud of them all.

“Our tour through Asia was a good, with a lot of hard work on the training fields. Pre-season is about staying fit and fit, and although we had a few small problems during our 10 days away, most of our players returned to the new season in a healthy and good form.

“Pre-season is also about integrating new players, and I think the way our new signs have established themselves in the group so far has been really good.

'I know you will all welcome Jeremia [Frimpong]Florian [Wirtz]Hugo [Ekitike]Giorgi [Mamardashvili]Armin [Pecsi]Freddie [Woodman] and Milos [Kerkez] To the club with open arms, and I think they have already felt a bit of how big and how special Liverpool is. That feeling will only grow, the longer they are here.

“For now I am looking forward to being home again, back on familiar land. The hard work continues.”
