Newcastle has raised their bid for Benjamin Sesko while continuing to chase the RB Leipzig striker with the magpies who want to ward off the interest of Manchester United
Newcastle has submitted an improved bid for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko with their latest offer that exudes £ 70 million. The German side had rejected their opening offer, including add-ons.
The magpies have identified the Slovenian as their top objective in attack where Sesko is probably the replacement for Alexander Isak, who insists on a move to Liverpool. Newcastle knows that Manchester United is also enthusiastic about the Leipzig frontman, but still has to bid.
It places the side of Eddie Howe in the pole position to land the striker, who is reportedly told his teammates in Germany that he will move this summer. Although United is interested, it is thought that they would not pay as much as Newcastle – it is struck when United was beaten because he missed an Arsenal star after Bruno Fernandes had his teammates tear.
Positive conversations have been held between co-owner of Newcastle Jamie Reuben, Leipzig and the 22-year-old striker, as reported for the first time by athletics. Sesko is supposed to be open to both projects, but Leipzig is determined that they will not sell until their appreciation has been met.
The Slovenian is one of the smartest young attackers in Europe and the Bundesliga outfit wants to ensure that they get a fee that reflects that. Leipzig is this period without Champions League football, but will not sell their top players cheaply, with some of their other leading lights attracting attention.
Newcastle has recently rejected an opening offer of £ 110 million from Liverpool for Isak, which was not shown on the recent pre-season tour of the club, with reference to injuries. He was later seen that training in the former club Real Sociedad.
Isak has been in St James' park for three years now and has continued to bloom since he has made a club record movement. He is now one of the top strikers in Europe, but is negotiating a movement elsewhere. It is the first time in the Saudi era in Newcastle that an important name has expressed the desire to go to the starting door, giving the club a decision to make.
They appreciate Isak at £ 150 million and will probably stay close to that figure. The Swede has years on his contract for years, which means that Newcastle is not under pressure to sell. They also want to know that they have a top quality replacement through the door before they consider selling.
Sesko's contract with Leipzig runs until 2029, but his deal is supposed to contain a men's agreement with which he can leave. He has registered 39 goals and eight assists in 87 performances for the German club since he had moved from RB Salzburg in 2023.
