Although it has been a busy summer for Real Madrid, with four signing sessions for a total of € 167.5 million, there is one position that continues to have a lot of debate in the Spanish capital. The outputs of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have not signed a controlling midfielder, and the word is that the new manager Xabi Alonso is very much on one.
The hierarchy in Real Madrid is less convinced. President Florentino Perez has little intention to be big on a midfielder this summer, unless he feels they are worth it. Until now, the only player he has seen he would convince him, Manchester City -Man Rodri Hernandez. But after a long-term injury, and at the age of 29, those factors make a deal with a big money more unlikely.
Rodri's current contract is going in 2027 and Los Blancos could be tempted at that time to repatriate the resident of Madrid. A year later, if he has not signed a new deal, he could be available at a lower price, and Real Madrid would have sufficient evidence of his recovery from the cruciate ligament injury.
City does not intend to let him go without a fight. Fabrizio Romano says that City Rodri will offer a new four -year -old deal until 2029 and make him their second best paid player after Erling Haaland. That would bring him to the age of 33, a long -term deal that few players receive after this age.
It would be interesting to see if Real Madrid would be willing to sign Rodri next summer. They have a policy to only offer players of more than thirty extensions of a year, and probably the Spain star would like at least a three-year deal if he moved to Real Madrid. Enzo Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister are mentioned as other names that Los Blancos like for the role, but both are considered too expensive this summer.
