Man Utd draw up two-striker shortlist if Newcastle win Benjamin Sesko race

Manchester United hopes to sign RB Leipzig -star Benjamin Sesko this summer, but the Red Devils consider two alternatives if they miss the striker to Newcastle

Manchester United is desperate to sign a new striker this summer and have two backup options if they don't land Benjamin Sesko. RB Leipzig -star Sesko is their top goal, but they are confronted with heavy competition for his Newcastle signature.

The Magpies have made an improved offer worth £ 70 million for Sesko, while United still has to offer officially for the 22-year-old. Sesko achieved 21 goals in 45 performances in all competitions last season.

According to a new report from athletics, United also consider potential alternatives for Sesko like Newcastle De Race wins with Chelsea Vooruit Nicolas Jackson on their radar. Chelsea would be open this summer to the sale of Jackson after signing Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, but only if they receive an 'acceptable proposal'.

In the meantime, French Outlet L'Equipe reports that Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain is another option that United is considering. Juventus was the front runners for Muani, but it is claimed that Deal has now stalled.

As a result, United could now take a step for the 26-year-old, although Tottenham is also interested in Muani.

The news comes after United Captain Bruno Fernandes encouraged the club to make more signing sessions before the new season starts. “It has improved, but it is not where we want it to be,” Fernandes said after a 2-2 draw with Everton in the preseason.

“It's a game of football, there is always passion there. Whatever happens, happens. There was nothing spicy there, it's normal, it is part of the game.

“It has been positive [the US tour] And it's good to create a bond with the players. We looked a bit lazy today and we have to change that.

“I don't want to dig up anyone, but I think the club does the best what they can do in terms of all the financial situations they talk about. I don't know anything about it, I am not involved. But it was clear that we clearly needed more competition for the players who were here.

“We needed more quality to get everyone a little more and to do more to get into the starting line-up. I think that is what the club and the manager try to do and hopefully we can get one or two players to help with that.”
