Newcastle United has reportedly informed RB Leipzig of a deadline in terms of their interest in a possible step for striker Benjamin Sesko, who is also a target for Manchester United
Newcastle United has delivered a 48 -hour deadline with regard to their interest in Benjamin Sesko. The side of Eddie Howe has identified the RB Leipzig striker as a target while the club seems to be to add reinforcements in the attack.
The magpies, who are preparing for a Champions League campaign, currently have limited options in advance. First-Cheice striker Alexander Isak has been the subject of a rejected bid with a value of a maximum of £ 120 million from Liverpool, while the decline of Callum Wilson's contract leaves the Prospect William Osula as the only other recognized center of the club.
Newcastle is also linked to a relocation for Brentford star Yoane Wissa, who previously scored 19 competition goals. However, the club is determined not to allow their pursuit of Leipzig Sesko to imitate Manchester United's earlier transfer strategy.
Talksport has reported that Newcastle Leipzig has informed about their desire for clarity in terms of Sesko's next steps by Wednesday. It is said that the club is sure to reach an agreement with the German side.
It is thought that Leipzig values the 22-year-old striker at around £ 70 million. Sesko is also a target for Man United and had been to Arsenal's Radar before the Gunners Viktor Gyokeres signed from Sporting CP.
However, the report also claimed that Newcastle has the feeling that they must have a clear idea of the intentions of Sesko before the second half of the week. It is said that Leipzig does not yet have to receive formal offers for Sesko, despite recent reports.
The unwillingness of Newcastle to be in a transfersaga is contrary to the approach of Man United to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. Despite the public interest of the club in Mbeumo, Man United had rejected various offers before the striker finally arrived in Old Trafford in a deal with a value of a maximum of £ 71 million. Newcastle does not want to replicate similar scenario with Sesko.
The Isak situation offers Newcastle extra motivation to speed up the negotiations for Sesko and other transfer goals. Apart from the possible loss of a star player, Howe will want to ensure that new recruits have time to settle before the start of an important season for the club.
New Castle reportedly appreciates their star Vooruit at £ 150 million and last week rejected a first £ 110 million offer from Liverpool. Sky Sports saw the striker arriving on Monday at the Newcastle training field, after having spent time with training with former Real Sociedad.
When asked if he thought that Isak would report to the club as the team that prepared to return from their tour for the season through Asia, said Newcastle boss Howe: “Of course I would like him (there), but whether he will not know at the moment. We have been here with the time difference, preparing for training.
Isak scored 27 goals in all competitions when Newcastle finally ended their long waiting time for silverware by winning the Carabao Cup and securing a Champions League spot by finishing fifth in the Premier League. He was brought by Newcastle in August 2022 for around £ 63 million.
In the meantime, Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 games for Leipzig, including four goals in the Champions League. The Centrum-Forward is one of the most sought after strikers in European football, after he flourished during his spells in Austria and Germany.
Newcastle has welcomed an Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for £ 55 million and has insured a loan movement for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer. In terms of expenditure, the club has earned some money back by selling Lloyd Kelly and Sean Longstaff to Juventus and Leeds United respectively.
