The English winger Rio Ngumoha is only 16 years old, but he has done remarkable versions in the pre-season matches of Liverpool. He has gathered two goals and two assists in four games and shone in the collision on Monday with Athletic Bilbao, which helps a youthful Liverpool side of a 4-1 win.
Ngumoha arrived in Anfield last summer from their rivals, Chelsea. He made his first team debut on January 11, 2025 in a FA Cup Third Round match at home at Accrington Stanley. At the age of 16 and 135 days he became the youngest starter in the history of the club.
He would no longer start the first team in the rest of the season, but he got a chance from coach Arne Slote during the preseason and he has repaid confidence brilliantly. He registered an assist against AC Milan, scored a goal against Yokohama and had a goal on Monday and assisted against Athletic Bilbao.
He opened the score in the second minute when he dragged the ball out of the middle of the field for the sixteen-yard box and placed a shot to the right pole to split the net.
Three minutes later his header Darwin Nunez set up for the second goal. He left the field in the 67th minute on a huge applause from the crowd. “Rio does great things in all games,” Slot praised his performance for the club's website.
Liverpool played two games against Bilbao on Monday, with Ngumoha started in a mostly youthful line -up in the first game next to Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott.
In the second game, the Reds won 3-2 and new signing sessions Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike in attack together with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo. Summer improvements Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong were also on the flanks of the defense.
