Luis Diaz moved to Bayern Munich after having spent three and a half years in Liverpool, and a former Everton star who also played in the Allianz Arena made his feelings clear about the transfer
Luis Diaz plans to contact James Rodriguez, after the approval of the former Everton player of his relocation from Liverpool to Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old recently completed a transmission of £ 65.5 million to the German giants after having spent three and a half years on Anfield.
During his time at the Reds, Diaz achieved a full set of domestic awards with two EFL Cup, a FA cup and the Premier League title last season. Now that he is looking for a new challenge, he is preparing for his debut season in Germany and follows the path of Rodriguez who admits that he was not always enjoying his loan tint in two seasons in Bavaria between 2017 and 2019.
Rodriguez, now 34 and played for Club Leon in Mexico, expressed his support for Diaz's decision to exchange Merseyside for Munich. And Diaz, who is only the third Colombian who plays for Bayern, after Rodriguez and Adolfo Valencia, said he will reach his higher countryman.
“About James, I didn't talk to him much,” Diaz told the local German media. “Maybe I will write to him to see what advice he has for me about the city, the team and everything else. But so far I have not had the chance to talk to him.”
Rodriguez is convinced that Diaz will make an impression in the Bundesliga and helps to continue their dominance of German football. Speaking with Labolasports after the 2-0 defeat of his team to New York City FC in the Leagues Cup, he said: “I think Lucho made the right choice. Bayern has drawn a great player and Lucho made for big teams. It is a great club, and he will help them a lot.”
Rodriguez's loan spell at Bayern supplied three large trophies, including two Bundesliga crowns, but he confessed that he was never located in the club because of struggling with the language and the hard climate.
“First, the cold,” he said on the podcast of Daniel Habif in 2020. “Then they were very cold people, although I received spectacular treatment at the club, they really enjoyed me. There is not too easy; it is very cold, -20 degrees.
“I would say:” What am I doing here? What am I doing here with -28 degrees? 'Munich is a city with a very high quality of life, but I could not feel at ease … The (German) language was very difficult for me; I had no desire to learn it.
“I told my (German) teacher in those first four months:” Look, I'm not going to waste your time and I'm not going to waste mine. I don't want it, I don't want it, I don't want it. I don't want a language that doesn't want to teach it; I just don't want it. “
James returned to Madrid in 2019, but only made 14 performances in what turned out to be his last season in Spain, where he won eight awards, including two La Liga titles and two Champions League titles.
The chance to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti led the Colombian to draw for Everton, albeit for just one season, before he left for the Qatar Stars League with Al-Rayyan.
