Real Madrid is currently not planning to sign even more players, and that is why focus is on what they already have. Some of their first team stars have been tipped for an exit in the coming weeks, but one of those who will not leave is Gonzalo Garcia.
Before the club World Cup earlier this summer, Gonzalo was largely unknown outside Real Madrid. He scored a late winner in the Copa del Rey Quarterfinal victory of last season in Leganes, but outside of that he was largely not involved in the first team, a number of impressive performances for Castilla.
Those eventually earned him a place in the Xabi Alonso team for the Club World Cup, where he was the striking performer of Real Madrid when he registered four goals and an assist in six games. And that form will now lead to him staying in the Santiago Bernabeu.
In recent weeks it has been reported that Real Madrid tries to agree on the conditions about a new contract with Gonzalo, and according to Marca that is now complete. The 21-year-old will soon sign his new deal, so that the club can also register him with La Liga as a first team player.
Gonzalo will compete with Kylian Mbappe to be Real Madrid's starting striker, where the plan is that he acts as a backup of the Frenchman of World Class, whose old sweater he also wants to take. A few weeks ago Mbappe exchanged 10 to 9 to 10 and would push Gonzalo to wear the iconic shirt for which it was tipped.
Gonzalo's chances of being Real Madrid's new number nine are good, since Endrick has no plans to ask the sweater. But for now it is still to see whether he gets the chance to take it.
