Ebereechi Eze has associated a large part of the summer with a move to Arsenal, but the Talisman of Crystal Palace has been told not to sign for one head for the Gunners
Ebereechi Eze has been told to enjoy the freedom he has in Crystal Palace and to reject a summer transfer to Arsenal. The Gunners are routinely connected to a £ 60 million for the 27-year-old this summer, but details about the progress of the potential deal are distant and little in between.
Eze dismissed Palace on their very first great honor in achieving the winning goal in their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. That ended a season in which he scored a career-best 14 goals and bore 11 assists in all competitions.
The English star would be Mikel Arteta's seventh summer signature in what was an expensive window for the Premier League side. Although Palace certainly would hope to keep their talisman, it is a transfer that Mikael Silvestre believes that Eze should reject because of the enormous amount of competition with which he will be confronted at the Emirates Stadium.
The former defender of Manchester United and Arsenal claimed that the attacking midfielder has the perfect situation with Palace and would have difficulty setting up in the starting line-up on the North London side.
Speaking with Hajper, the Frenchman said: “Ebereechi to Arsenal? I don't think it would be good for him, to be honest, because there is a lot of competition and because he has so much joy and freedom in Crystal Palace.
“Going to Arsenal would, I think, be difficult because of the competition for places. But I really like him. Since his early days he has been great. It is a shame that he has had quite a lot of muscle injuries and he has missed a number of parts of the season. But when he is fit and ready, he is a top player.”
Despite the concerns of Silvestre about Eze, Bukayo Saka has already indirectly warned his Gunners teammates that they would have had a fight for their position if last year had praised the palace, and admitted that he was most impressed by him during the training of England.
“Eze has been a class in training,” said the 23-year-old. “He made the most impression on me, I would say.” With two years left on his contract in Selhurst Park, Palace is in a strong negotiating position if they choose to sell Eze.
However, it would be a departure that the team rocks and a departure that palace boss Oliver Glasner would certainly hope to avoid. It has been a quiet window in terms of income for Palace, who has welcomed only two new players and has issued only £ 3 million in the trial.
The Austrian unveiled his frustration with the lack of arrivals this summer and admitted that he hopes that there are no more expenses until the end of the window. Glasner spoke with newspaper Kronen Zeitung in his home country and said: “Although all players are still there, we have not taken the best out of the transfer window so far.
“From now on I have 17 Outfield players. I hope we won't lose anymore. If that happens and we get four new ones on the Deadline day like last year, a different false start is possible.”
