Isak transfer news: Carragher wants club to sign Newcastle striker but cheaper

Jamie Carragher says that he wants Liverpool Alexander Isak from Newcastle to sign, but has wondered whether the club should spend such a big money.

Earlier in August, Liverpool made a first offer of £ 110 million plus add-ons, Sky Sports News reported. However, the total supply did not reach £ 120 million, with the Magpies appreciating the striker at £ 150 million.

Newcastle is braced for a second bid on Isak, but it is unlikely that it will be sold unless the club can find a ready-made replacement. Their movement for RB Leipzig -striker Benjamin Sesko seems to be used by Manchester United.

Liverpool also signed Hugo Ekitike this summer, who can also play as a no. 9, and Carragher says that he is the attacker to be a backup 'not good' with him.

He said about the overlap: “It will be a great signing. But from the point of view of a Liverpool fan, I don't want the club to spend £ 150 million to Isak.

“I could probably imagine that he was Liverpool's target, but there is something about Liverpool who buys a striker [Ekitike] For £ 80 million and he is a backup. There is something that is not good for me.

“I look at Isak, he clearly thrown his toys out of the pram as soon as Arsenal and Liverpool have signed a striker. From him and the point of view of his agent, they did not tell Newcastle months ago that they wanted to continue? It just seems a bit messy.

“When I think of Liverpool, it doesn't really look planned. I don't think the plan is to sign a striker for £ 80 million and sign one for £ 120 million.

“I feel a bit for Ekitike. Because he has been brought in and then this Isak -thing suddenly came.

“I want Liverpool to sign Isak, but £ 150 million feels like an Mbappe for me. You should get Mbappe for £ 150 million.”

Isak did not go on Newcastle's pre-season tour through Asia, referring to a thigh problem. Instead, he participated in a personal training camp in his former club, Real Sociedad.

The Sweden International returned earlier this week to the Newcastle training area for treatment at his injury. It is not clear whether he met head coach Eddie Howe, with the team returning from South Korea this weekend.
