The Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu has officially become a member of the French Ligue 1 Club Toulouse for a deal of four years. The 24-year-old completed his transfer from the Belgian side Cercle Brugge in a deal that was reportedly worth approximately € 2.5 million.
Abu, a product of the famous right to dream, had spent the past five years at Cercle Brugge, where he became a key figure in midfield that contributed three goals and seven assists.
Before moving to Belgium, Abu started his professional career at the Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, by breaking through their youth system and making his senior debut in the 2019/20 season.
Abu has left his mark internationally by earning five caps for the national team of Ghana since his debut in 2024.
Toulouse, who finished 10th in Ligue 1 last season, sees him as an important addition to strengthen their midfield and improve their competition. His diligent working speed and ball -bearing skills match the ambitions of the club for a more competitive campaign in 2025/26.
The Ghanaian is a box-to-box midfielder that can also depart as a defensive midfielder. After officially becoming a member of Toulouse, Abu expressed his excitement.

The arrival of Abu is Toulouse's third signing in the current transfer window while the club wants to build a stronger team. Sports director Viktor Bezhani emphasized the qualities of Abu and praised his strength, balance and energy that will add depth and dynamics to the midfield of Toulouse.

Abu becomes the first Ghanaese to play for Toulouse and wears the number 17 shirt for the new season.
