Liverpool boss Slot suggests Nunez could leave before Community Shield

Liverpool -Baas Arne Slot admits that there is a chance that Darwin Nunez will leave for their community shield collision with Crystal Palace in Wembley Stadium.

It is understood that Liverpool has accepted an offer of Al Hilal for the Uruguay striker.

Asked for an update this morning Slot replied: “Things have not yet been signed, but there is indeed a chance that he will leave.

“At the moment in time, Darwin can leave, but things are not yet signed, so we have to wait a few days until that may be done in full, but there is a chance that he can leave.”

The prospect of the sale that Liverpool leads to try again for Alexander Isak after an offer of £ 110 million was rejected by Newcastle last week, was Coy.

He continued: “These are many questions I don't want. You never talk about players who are not yours, so I can talk to you about Hugo (Ekitike), whom we have recently signed and has done it very well so far.

“We are very happy with the team we have, and there is every reason to be happy because we won the competition last season. Okay, players are gone, but we also brought players in and the young people are doing well.

“I think we have a lot of attacking power in our team. When I think of Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, MO Salah, Jeremie Frimpong, who can play as a right winger, Florian Wirtz, who can play as a left-wing-I already feel many attacks in my current squadje.

“But as always, as a club, we always look at the opportunities in the market, but that can also be in midfield or the last rule.”

New faces to appear at Wembley

On Liverpool's preparations, Sunday's community shield against Crystal Palace went into, Slot was optimistic.

The Reds will meet the FA Cup winners, with people like Wirtz, Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Frimpong as new additions.

Slot said: “The good thing about last season was that the whole team remained, so they already knew each other very well.

“Now a few players have left and we have brought a few players in, so that always assumes a little adjustment because the players we have brought in – some of them have different qualities to the qualities we already have. They have to adapt to their new teammates, but we also have to adapt to them.

“We have been working for four weeks, so that is the pleasant part of not having a World Cup or another international tournament, so that we can work with them from the start.”

Ngumoha to play?

Before he finished, along with the summer additions, Slot was asked if we could see super member Rio Ngumoha at Wembley after his impressive preview.

Slot added: “He and Trey (Nyoni) have an incredible opportunity to work and every day with players such as Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah to see what they do to be ready to perform every three days, and that is a step that these players have to take, and that is completely normal.

“We want to develop them in the best way, but we also have to take care of them. We are aware of it, but it is promising for him, as for Trey.”
