Lewandowski in danger of missing the start of the LaLiga season with injury

Barcelona -striker Robert Lewandowski has sustained a hamstring injury and is allowed to miss the start of the La Liga season, the Catalan club announced on Friday.

“The first team player Robert Lewandowski has a hamstring problem in his left thigh,” Barcelona said in a statement, without indicating how long the Polish striker would be out of operation.

The 36-year-old is “not available” for Sunday's friendly match against Como, who calls for doubt about his presence in the MatchDay team for the La Liga opener of Barcelona against Mallorca on August 16.

Lewandowski scored 42 times in 52 performances in all matches for the Catalan club last season when Hansi Flick's Side won the Spanish competition, cup and Super Cup.
