Former Man United man appeals for help after being burgled during house move

Former Manchester United Academy star Demetri Mitchell has revealed that he was the victim of a burglary in Essex, with thieves stealing his car and some personal items during a home movement.

The 28-year-old, who came to Leyton Orient this summer, moved from Manchester when the incident took place at night.

Mitchell says that burglars were broken into in the building, stole his car keys and then drove away with a vehicle loaded with valuable assets.

The former English Youth International went to social media to do help to get his car back.

He placed X: “I just broke into Essex last night, came in my car keys and had a lot of valuables in the car when I moved my things from Manchester last night.”

Mitchell also shared the registration number of the stolen vehicle and urged everyone with information to come forward: “Everyone sees the reg yh25 vdd This car lets me know.”

Mitchell rose due to the ranks in Manchester United and made his first team debut under Jose Mourinho in 2017.

Since then he has had spells in Hearts, Blackpool, Hibernian, Exeter City – and became a member of Leyton Orient in June.

Mitchell becomes the newest victim in a worrying trend of football players who are the target of criminals, with a growing number of stars that fall prey to burglaries and car thefts

In November 2024, Newcastle Joelinton's house was broken into for the second time.

The midfielder revealed that thieves focused his house for the second time in 2024 after a raid in January.

He posted on his social media accounts: 'Our house was broken again. For everyone who is considering doing this – please know that there is nothing valuable here!

'What we give the most about is the safety of our family and our children who grow up without fear.

'We hope for a community where our children and everyone's children feel safe. We ask ourselves that our house is being respected as a safe space for our family. We just want to live in peace. '
