FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has taken over his social media accounts to share a long-term statement with regard to recent speculation about his injury, surgery and contract-related rumors.
The German international revealed that in recent months both physically and personally 'particularly difficult' have been because he has worked to return to the field after surgery. Ter Stegen emphasized that his only priority has always been to recover as quickly as possible to help the team and to continue to compete.
In his message he clarified that the decision to undergo surgery was taken after consultation with medical professionals and with the full approval of the club, aimed at protecting his health and long-term career. He underlined that his recovery time line was determined by trusted experts and publicly communicated, always in coordination with Barça.
Ter Stegen also spoke about speculation that his operation may have been linked to the registration of other players, so that such a connection is firmly refused. He noted that all signing sessions and contract innovations were completed before his operation and alternative interpretations described as 'unfair and inaccurate'.
