Ter Stegen reinstated as captain, club say ‘disciplinary file considered closed’

On Friday, Barcelona has restored goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as captain after resolving a dispute about the German fitness.

The club had started disciplinary action on Tuesday and will dissect on Thursday from the ClubcaptainCyCy about his fitness after he had undergone an operation at the end of July.

Local media reported that the 33-year-old had refused to work together and release his medical details, so that the club tried to have La Liga classified as a long-term injury, so that Barcelona could deduct part of his wages from their official wage account.

But in a statement from a late night, Barcelona reported that the player had signed the necessary paperwork.

“The disciplinary file is considered closed and the player regains the first team captain with immediate effect,” Barca added.

Earlier Friday, Ter Stegen was taken to social media to defend himself.

“In the past few weeks, many things have been said about me – some of them completely unfounded,” he wrote on Instagram. “That is why I think it is necessary to express my version of the events respectfully, yet clearly.”

“I am fully willing to work with the management of the club to resolve this issue and to offer the requested authorization,” said Stegen.

Now that the new League season is approaching, Barcelona is struggling again to satisfy the Spanish financial fair play rules. If they can't do that, they may not be able to register new players.

Ter Stegen said that if the club had a financial bond, this would not have to blame his back problems.

“I would also like to clarify that all signing sessions and contract innovations of the club were completed before my operation,” he wrote.

“The decision to undergo an operation was completely approved by the club, and always with the intention of giving priority to my health and long -term sports career that are of course fully tailored to that of FCB to have myself available on the field as quickly as possible to continue to win trophies.”

He added that his new operation is not to disturb the “registration of other colleagues that I respect enormously to share the dressing room with many seasons”.

“My dedication to these colors remains absolutely.”

The place of Ter Stegen is threatened by one of the summer signing sessions, the 24-year-old Joan Garcia and the 35-year-old Wojciech Szczesny, the Polish veteran who has been rewarded with a contract extension for taking over during the League-Title-Winning Campaign.
