Atletico Madrid reach agreement to sign Serie A forward in €26m deal

Atletico Madrid has been very busy this summer and they are about to make their ninth signing of the transfer window.

Clement Lenglet, Juan Musso, Matteo Ruggeri, álex Baena, Johnny Cardoso, Thiago Almada, Marc Pubill and David Hancko have already arrived in the Riyadhair Metropolitano, who has significantly improved the depth in Diego Soughone's Squadron. But despite this there is room for further signing sessions, and attack is an area that still has to be tackled.

Simeone still wanted a new face to complete its forward options, and after a deal for Enzo Millot collapsed, Atleti went to Giacomo Raspadori. Personal conditions have already been with the Italian, and now Diario has reported that Napoli has now given the green light to complete a transfer.

Atleti pays € 22 million for Raspadori, including € 4 million in add-ons. The 25-year-old, who has been covered 40 times by Italy, has to travel to Madrid in the coming days to complete the move, which means that he should be available for Espanyol in the La Liga-Opener of next weekend.

Raspadori will arrive in Atleti as the replacement for Angel Correa, who left earlier in the summer to join the Mexican side Tigres. He will compete with Julian Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann and Alexander Sorloth for the two rush-hour positions, given that Simeone is expected to stay with the 4-4-2 that he used last season.

Given the expenses made during the summer transfer window, there will be busy at Atleti to praise Barcelona and Real Madrid on all fronts during the 2025-26 season. Simeone has the tools at his disposal to add to his list of distinctions as head coach of Los Colchoneros, and the question now is whether he can deliver this.
