Bryan Mbeumo showed fans what they missed when Manchester United Fiorentina defeated 5-4 on penalties in their last pre-season-friendly.
United was a mixed bag in their last summer warm-up match and the only one in Old Trafford before the start of the new season next Sunday.
65,000 fans turned out to be friendly, but the Red Devils quickly saw themselves behind a corner within eight minutes when Simon Salomon Junor Sohm buried it from 12 meters after he was left in No Man's Land.
Ruben Amorim's side showed the same problems with defending corners, which did not predict well with Set-piece Kings Arsenal that arrived within eight days.
Casemiro celebrated as he scored, but it was former Inter-Milan star Robin Gosens' own goal that attracted the level of the home team within 25 minutes.
Amorim has only changed the 72nd minute, because United remains unbeaten during the previous season after avoiding the defeat during the American tour.
The legendary club keeper David de Gea received a good broadcast from fans on his first return to Old Trafford since departure in 2023.
United revealed their four new signing sessions, but it was Benjamin Sesko – who was announced from RB Leipzig before the kick -off – that received the loudest roar from fans.
And exactly, because writing could be on the wall for Rasmus Hojlund after the Mount for the Dane started as a false No9.
But the feeling around Old Trafford feels more positive because Kobbie Mainoo's penalty in the Shootout Amorim's side won the Snapdragon Cup.
This is how Sunssport's Manchester United reporter Katherine Walsh rated the players …
Altay Bayindir – 6
Was disastrous disappointed by his defense, who left Salomon Junor Sohm with hectare space from 12 meters in front of his goal.
And that does not send a strong message with Mikel Arteta's Corner Masters who will arrive next weekend.
But his strong hand avoided the defeat in the 86th minute. And fans will need more of that, with Bayindir who sets the season in goal, while Andre Onana a hamstring injury nursing.
Harry Maguire – 5
Last season's problems back in action, because United admitted from a corner within the first eight minutes.
He is supposed to be part of Amorim's six -member leadership team, but was susceptible to the same mistakes not to read the game.
The defender of England had the best first chance of the second half after he had persuaded in shooting from a distance through the crowd – echoes of the game where he changed a wing player against Athletic Club last season.
Ayden Heaven – 5
Part of a terrible mix for the opener, jumped up and hid behind Maguire while the cross flew over both heads.
Was present to block Junor Sohm's shot after the break.
Patrick Dorgu – 5
Two chances came from his side – first a cross on the way, then the goal from a corner that he gave away.
Salomon Junor Sohm had the freedom of Manchester to bury home in the right post in the eighth minute.
The left back is clearly physical, but it often comes out as awkwardness when he bundles in players. His poor pass went on the path of Moise Kean in the box for full -time.
Leny Yoro – 6
Yoro is already a leader under the back line, perhaps their most vocal power and the best cleaner of errors in midfield.
The teenager will be an important air threat this season. Held out by the Gea within 30 minutes and twice in the second half.
Amad Diallo – 7
This was friendly, but it showed how hard Amad will have to work back as the right -wing.
The Ivorian international was the flank up and down and found Mbeumo occasionally, but the couple often became mixed in each other's space.
Bruno Fernandes – 6
The stadium sang its name while the teams walked away – grateful that he did not accept the Saudi Aarabia offer.
Next season a lot was made about his position on the field after the arrival of the two NO10s in Cunha and Mbeumo – and rightly – but the skipper was an incredible pass everywhere.
Casemiro – 5
Sloppy errors handed Fiorentina opportunities. Fans thought he got the opener, he had a hand in it, but the ball came from Robin Gosens for his own goal.
Bizarre shuffled a header in his own box to give a chance for Junor Sohm after the break.
What should Kobbie Mainoo do to start these types of games?
Bryan Mbeumo – 8
Some really nice accents and link-up play with Amad, and this season is on the set pieces of the right-hand not everything falls on Fernandes.
Played a short ball for Amad, who crossed the ball for Yoro's chance.
Had the crowd going with an incredible piece of skill along the sidelines.
Matheus Cunha – 7
United looks dangerous when they play on the left, Cunha connected brilliantly with Fernandes and Dorgu, even if there are teething problems.
Although he was longer than Mbuemo, the former Wolves man was largely surpassed by the Cameroonian and he was not as sharp as expected.
The best movement of the game almost ended in a goal for Cunha as a huge block of one of the two Fiorentina players threw their bodies in the way in the 80th minute.
Mason Mount – 7
Amorim likes Mount and he finished his socks. Clearly has the right attitude and will play everywhere. Stop a broad shot a cross.
Mount will use this season to revive his career in England under former boss Thomas Tuchel and he shows shadows of his former self.
Pressed and pressed all games.
