Former goalkeeper David de Gea van Manchester United was honored with a special presentation after he returned to Old Trafford with Fiorentina on Saturday.
The goalkeeper first appeared in the club since his departure from 2023, ending the game 1-1 before he was decided by a penalty shootout.
De Gea spent 12 years in the club and made 545 performances for the club in all competitions.
During his time at United he won the Premier League, the FA Cup and Two League Cups.
He made many memorable rescues, even in difficult times for the club.
Prior to the kick-off against Fiorentina, Captain Bruno Fernandes stepped on the old Trafford field to present his good friend and former teammate a framed photo, while the United Squad was applauding behind them.
On the eve of the friendly, the Portuguese midfielder had made jokes that he hoped to score against his former teammate.
Fernandes said, “I hope I score some goals against you!”
De Gea answered by saying: 'Hello, as you know, I come home. It will certainly be a special game for me.
'Bruno, you know, you can't score against me, and if you score, it's because I let you score so that people keep singing your name!
“But to be honest, I can't wait to see you my friend. I can't wait to see you all at Old Trafford, so I will be there on Saturday, goodbye! '
De Gea started his career in Atletico Madrid, with whom he won the Europa League in the 2009-10 season.
Since he came to Fiorentina, he has played 42 times for the Italian club.
De Gea has been covered by Spain 45 times, but has not been called by his country since 2021.
