Arsenal 3-0 Athletic Club: Viktor Gyokeres took his first Gunners goal when Mikel Arteta's side ended for the season by winning the Emirates Cup
Mikel Arteta insists that Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz can play together in attack for Arsenal. The forward duo both thought the target when the Gunners finished the preseason at a peak with a 3-0 demolition from Athletic Club.
Gyokees took his first Arsenal goal for a delighted home crowd, while Havertz also gave his boss something to think about after entering the field and scoring after the second of Bukayo Saka.
Arteta enjoys his newly established team depth and says: “They can play together, Kai can also play in different positions. It increases the level of the team and the options of the team. It is great to see both scoring and it is a good problem to have.”
Gyokees hit 39 competition goals in Portugal last season, but none of them was with his head. Arteta believes that the £ 63.7 million frontman brings so much to the table and has warned opposition fever with which they are confronted as “destroyed” if they afford him.
He continued for next week's Premier League opener at Old Trafford: “Everything he does is on instinct. That's why he scored so much in the last few seasons. It's his goals, he is a threat, he pins center backs and when you leave him with space 1v1 he will destroy you.”
Arsenal also won the post-match Penalty Shootout with 6-5 when the new boy Martin Zubimendi, who assisted Gyokeres, delivered the decisive Spot-Kick. The Spaniard is worth every cent of his fee of £ 60 million.
Arteta also claimed that the Gunners may not have been put on the market yet and added: “Let's see what happens in terms of where the team is in the coming weeks. We are actively looking at options, there are a few players who may also have to leave. We are open to see what is happening.”
Arteta expects Leandro Trossard to be fit to be confronted with Manchester United, even though he fights against a groin problem. On the field, Declan Rice Gyokeres encouraged to treat the Emirates to his characteristic mask celebration after opening his account for Arsenal.
Two minutes later, Gyokeres, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, combined with a red -hot Saka to double the benefit of the hosts. Havertz, who came back from an injury in impressive physical form and subsequently ended on goal, with an enormous speed to collect the addicted pass from Saka before he finished cute.
Arteta was also satisfied with the reception that Noni Madueke received from the home crowd and explained: “The reception he received every time he was on the ball was super positive. You can see the quality he has every time he is at the ball.”
Arsenal has no other fitness care, because Riccardo Calafiori also returned and played the opening for 45 minutes.
