Former Man United manager Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo was ‘never a problem’

Ex-man United manager Erik ten Hag has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo 'never the problem' was during his time at the club while he took a wipe in the club.

Ten Hag and Ronaldo, 40, had a reportedly rocky relationship during their time together in Old Trafford that led to the Portuguese attacker being shipped to Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo continued to score in Saudi Arabia, recently a hat trick in a hat trick in their 4-0 friendly victory over Rio Ave.

Speaking after their 2-0 friendly defeat against Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen manager Ten Hag now surprisingly defended his ex-player.

When asked if Ronaldo was “still the problem” after scoring a hat trick, Ten Hag replied: “For me it is no problem, he was never the problem. I think that is the past, it is what happened, and then we won two trophies at Manchester United, and I wish him the best for the future.”
