Federico Chiesa is connected to a relocation of Liverpool this summer, but the Italian winger continues to give everything in the training for the season, much to the delight of Reds fans
Federico Chiesa continues to make maximum efforts during training sessions in Liverpool, despite the fact that speculation connects him with a departure from Anfield this transfer window. Supporters online have praised the Italian for his dedication and lively attitude.
The winger made the switch to Merseyside of Juventus for £ 12.5 million last year, which represents the only permanent senior acquisition during the inaugural campaign of Arne Slot. Chiesa's first season in England was unfortunately hindered by fitness problems and limited playing time.
Speculation is therefore intensified this summer and connects Chiesa with a return to Italy after the arrival of new attacking reinforcements in Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. After a glimpse of a recent Reds training session, however, supporters have quickly been to cheer Chiesa for his application.
In images that are shared on YouTube with a Liverpool training session, Chiesa can be observed to participate in sprint exercises and small-sided games with a radiant smile, who caught the attention of supporters in the reactions.
“Federico Chiesa is the perfect professional,” said a comment. “Even with his future in the club still in the air, he is 100 percent efforts to train with a smile on his face. I just love the man and want the best for him when or wherever he plays.”
Another posted: “Fede must remain, so much to give, he is the only player we have at ease on both feet when attacking, which makes him extremely difficult to defend.”
In a summer of endless transfer interviews, Calciomercato claims that Chiesa wants to stay in Liverpool, but only if he has promised considerable playing time. If that certainty does not come true, he can look somewhere else, with Napoli, AS Roma, AC Milan, Juventus, Atalanta, Como and Atletico Madrid all reportedly circling.
Manager Slot, however, may have dropped a hint that the Italian will probably remain this transfer window in Anfield, because he made it a point to mention Chiesa when discussing his attacking Arsenal, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“I think we have a lot of attacking power in our team,” said Slot during his press conference of the pre-community Shield. “When I think of Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Mo Salah, Jeremie Frimpong who can play as a right winger, Florian Wirtz who can play as a left wing.
“I already have the feeling that I have many attacking options in my current team. But as always as a club, we always look at the opportunities in the market, but that can also be in midfield or the last rule.”
When he was printed directly over Chiesa's future in May, after the Solitaire League of the Italian last season under his stewardship, Slot was adamant that the player has a place on Anfield.
“Does he have a future here? Yes, he certainly has, yes,” said Slot. 'Absolute. I think everyone who plays here for us has a future here. Next season, when he returns completely fit, what he has hardly been for the first half season, but then he became fitter and fitter.
“The next steps should have been playing time that I could not give him. But I can give him playing time in the preseason, so that he can build himself up and then go even further.”
