Brentford has had conversations with Bournemouth about signing Dango Ouattara.
The 23-year-old, who played 90 minutes for Bournemouth against Real Sociedad behind closed doors on Saturday, is seen as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo and wants to explore options this summer.
Brentford also tried for Ipswich wing player Omari Hutchinson, who last week was the subject of a failed £ 35 million from Nottingham Forest.
Bournemouth is in the grip of selling defender Illya Zabarnyi to Paris St. Germain and has reserved Lille's Bafode Diakite as a replacement, while Genoa's Koni De Winter and Chelsea's Axel Disasi have also been taken into account.
Ouattara came to Bournemouth van Lorient in 2023 and made 88 performances for the cherries, while he scored eleven goals and delivered nine assists.
It has been a summer of important change for Brentford after the departure of head coach Thomas Frank to Tottenham, where Keith Andrews replaces him.
Brentford also had to deal with the departure of some important players, with Mbeumo registering for Arsenal at Manchester United and Christian Norgaard.
There remains uncertainty about the future of Yoane Wissa, which is important from Newcastle.
Brentford hopes about £ 40 million for Wissa, with Newcastle previously rejecting an £ 25 million bid.
Jordan Henderson came to Brentford earlier this summer, with Caoimhin Kelleher, Antoni Milambo and Michael Kayode under the other arrivals in the club.
