On Sunday, Barcelona faces Como in the Joan Gamper -Trophy, their traditional curtain booster prior to the new season. Hansi Flick will hope that his side will deliver another strong performance, because he comes face to face with a face that is well known for those in Catalonia.
CESC Fabregas has been the head coach of Como in recent seasons and after a solid mid-table finish in 2024-25, he hopes to push his side to the European places in Italy. And to achieve this, he wants to continue to add his ideas to and refine and he plans to do this with the help of Barcelona's manager.
According to MD, Flick and Fabregas will hold a meeting after Sunday's game, after a request from the latter. His plan is to ask Barcelona's head coach “many tactical questions”, which considered one of the topics as the well-documented high-line tactics of the Catalans. He confirmed this when he spoke before meeting the media.
“I would like to spend twenty minutes with him. I have many questions to ask him. He has an idea, he believes in it. They practice high pressure, laterally against full-back … I think (the offside tactics) is incredible. I asked Alex (Valle), who was in the front season, how they are doing it, what is new and intense.”
Fabregas is considered one of the fiercely rated Young managers of football because of the work he has done with Como. He was head coach at Inter almost earlier this summer, and in recent months it has been reported that he could be a candidate to replace film when he decides that his time is up in Catalonia.
It will be very interesting to see how Barcelona and Como face each other in the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Both parties that play a very flowing style of football, and if Fabregas succeeds in getting his side to match the La Liga title winners of last season, it would further emphasize his quality as a coach.
