Chelsea move goalposts on £61m Xavi Simons transfer by targeting swap deal

Chelsea remains locked up in conversations with Red Bull Leelipig about Forward Xavi Simons, but the key to securing his signature can send Christopher Nunku back to his former club in a Swap deal

Chelsea could be Christopher Nunku in every deal for Red Bull Leipzig Forward Xavi Simons while the blues perform their pursuit of the Dutch star. Nunku came to Chelsea van Leipzig in 2023 for around £ 53 million, but the Frenchman has difficulty teasing a first team spot in the team, while also struggling with injuries.

According to the Guardian, who says that the Bundesliga side is located in a reunion in West London in West -London, he is not in the West London now. Nunku emerged as one of Europe's most exciting attackers during his time in Germany. He scored 70 goals from 172 performances, including a highlight of 35 in one season after a productive 2021-22 campaign.

But he did not get in Chelsea, because he scored three goals in each of the two Premier League seasons that he has had so far – although he has shown his quality by netting 15 in all competitions last season.

It will be even more difficult for Nunku to get playing time at the bridge after the club Liam Delap and Joao Pedro had signed. He could be the key to securing Simons, who has become the next large transfer target for Chelsea in this window.

Leipzig has already lost Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United and knows that they run the risk of losing Simons and must sign offensive replacements.

It is believed that they see Nunku as the man to fill that void and could negotiate a Swap deal for the two players. Chelsea value nunku at around £ 40 million despite its Nightmare Stamford Bridge spell.

The Guardian report says that conversations are going on about a £ 61 million deal for Simons. The Dutch international only came to Leipzig in January only after two loan tints and Chelsea may have to pay a “considerable fee” if they want to get their husbands.

Nunku had previously been a target for Manchester United when Ruben Amorim was looking for a new attacker, but the Red Devils now have Sesko in their ranks, so no longer has to follow their interest.

Chelsea could also sell Nicolas Jackson this summer to balance the books, but it quotes teams of around £ 80 million for the Senegalese star.

Manager Enzo Maresca still wants to add more offensive talent on top of Simons while he follows a movement for Manchester United -wing player Alejandro Garnacho, who is out of favor in Old Trafford after he has gotten out of grace at Amorim.
