Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool in Sunday's community of Sunday when the annual curtain booster was decided by penalties for the third year in a row.
The side of Arne Slot went to a dream start to football, while summer signs Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike together to open the score after four minutes.
Liverpool continued to dominate the early, but it was Palace that struck the next time, with Jean-Philippe Mateta who turned from 12 meters after Ismaila Sarr was knocked down by Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool then quickly recovered their advantage thanks to a beautiful cross-cum shot from Jeremie Frimpong.
Palace was the more productive of the two teams after the restart and were rewarded for their efforts when Ismaila Sarr brought the score with a neat finish up close.
The game eventually went to Spot Kicks when Dean Henderson made a few crucial saves for Oliver Glasner's side before replacement Justin Devenney shot the winning penalty home.
Aadam Patel from Daily Mail Sport was at Wembley to offer his expert analysis about how both teams performed.
Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1)
Dean Henderson (8)
Could have done better for the Hugo Ekitike strike, but could not do anything to keep the goal of Jeremie Frimpong out. Made some crucial saves and held Mac Allister and Elliott in the shoot -out with two brilliant stops.
Chris Richards (6)
Had cut his work away as part of the Palace three back. Perhaps Ekitike could have been closed before he got his shot away for the Liverpool opener. Always offered a threat to set pieces.
Maxence Lacroix (6)
Just like Richard's moisture well, but struggled to handle Ekitike, who had the chance after a coincidence. On another day, Liverpool could have scored four or five if they were clinical.
Marc Guehi (7)
Was solid against a quality liverpool attack. The side of Arne Slot is interested in him. He bumped carefully on the field, although it just looked like cramps.
Daniel Munoz (7.5)
Certainly not afraid to move forward and gave Kerkez enough to think on the left side of Liverpool. Always full of energy and one of the most impressive players in Palace.
Adam Wharton (7)
Struggled to get to the second half in the game, but when he did, he was brilliant and their second goal came from him to get the ball from Gakpo and play by Sarr.
Daichi Kamada (5.5)
Made a tidy start but was injured in the first half and was replaced by Will Hughes in the 29th minute.
Tyrick Mitchell (6.5)
Defensively stuck and did well against Mohamed Salah, although unlike Munoz on the other hand, not much in the future. Disappear from Borna Sosa in the 79th minute.
Ismaila Sarr (8.5)
The kind of player that always looks like he's about to make something happen. Crucial received the punishment in the first half and then ended brilliantly to bring the score to 2-2. Nice punishment in the shoot out too.
Ebereechi Eze (6.5)
Held Frimpong on his toes but did not get enough on the ball. Alisson forced to make a good save after the break and was refused by the Brazilian in the shoot -out.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (7.5)
Make no mistake of the place to be the same and was a powerful game with his hold-up play. Fight brilliant with both Van Dijk and Konate. Scored his punishment.

Manager
Oliver Glasner (8)
The man who has delivered another day of joy for Crystal Palace. His side was brilliant and went to toe to toe with the Premier League favorites.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1)
Alisson Becker (7)
Save a good salvation to deny Mateta early, but was sent in the wrong direction for the punishment. Solid after the break, making a series of stops but was defeated by SARR. Bad luck in the shootout.
Jeremie Frimpong (7)
Scored from an impossible perspective – even if he didn't mean it. The kind of all-action display that showed why Liverpool wanted him, but there is working work to do.
Virgil van Dijk (6)
Gave the punishment away with a foolish error on Ismaila Sarr and will know that he performed for Sarr's Equalizer at the wrong time. Certainly not his best performance.
Ibrahima Konate (6.5)
In addition to Van Dijk, the full-backs of Liverpool had the permit to attack. Crucial that he stays fit and is treated well with the physicality of Mateta, but caught on SARR's goal.
Milos Kerkez (6.5)
One of the four debutants who start for Liverpool. Many positives in the future, but he was always dragged in. Have Andy Robertson replaced.
Curtis Jones (6)
In the side after Ryan Gravenberch was missing and holding his, but not really noticing anything before he was replaced by Wataru Endo in the 71st minute.
Dominik Szoboszlai (7.5)
Got the assist for the goal of Frimpong and showed a glimpse of his sparkle through the game. Really well coupled with Wirtz everywhere and scored a quality fine.
Mohamed Salah (6.5)
Another that connected well with Wirtz, but this was a relatively quiet afternoon for the balloon d'Or nominated. Came close to getting the winner late at normal time before he shoots his penalty over the bar.
Florian Wirtz (9)
It seemed that he has been a Liverpool player for years. Constantly involved and created coincidence after coincidence. Got the assist for Ekitike and the only thing that was missing in his performance was a goal.
Cody Gakpo (6.5)
Struggled to show his quality in the last third part and a mediocre representation was summarized when he was earned by Hughes in the structure of Palace's second goal. Took his sentence well.
Hugo Ekitike (7.5)
Made the dream starts with a nice strike and caused problems for the palace, but he missed some big opportunities and could easily have had a hat trick. Already a favorite with fans.
Subs
Wataru Endo (6)
On for Jones in the 71st minute.
Alexis Mac Allister (6)
For Ekitike in the 71st minute.
Andy Robertson (NVT)
On for Kerkez in the 84th minute.
Harvey Elliott (NVT)
On for Wirtz in the 84th minute.
Manager
Arne Slot (7)
Two defeats in two at Wembley now for Arne Slot. Will know that his side should have finished this game and if there is something, this was an early memory that they should be at their best if they want to defend the Premier League.
