Joan Garcia backs Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s return despite No.1 battle

New Barcelona No.1 Joan Garcia has supported Marc-Andre ter Stegen to remain as a club captain in the 2025/26 season.

Ter Stegen spoke about the Estadi Johan Cruyff-Worp for Barcelona's dominant 5-0 Joan Gamper Trophy Final victory over Como.

The German international looked to tackle the friction between itself and the club that has dominated in recent weeks.

Barcelona previously opened the disciplinary procedure against Ter Stegen when he refused to sign medical documents that the club intended to pass on La Liga with regard to his recovery time of the operation.

After initially refusing, Ter Stegen has since spent his attitude, with those procedures and the captain recovered, when his rehabilitation begins.

La Liga will make a decision about the case in the coming days and Barcelona will know whether Garcia will start their season opener in Mallorca on 16 August.

Despite the continuous tensions, the pre-match message of Ter Stegen was positive because he called for the issue to end now, and the new look team was tapping to excel in his absence.

Garcia and Ter Stegen embraced full -time and the new stop hopes that he will get stuck for the campaign.

“The club told me that my registration will be done without problems soon.

“In the dressing room we have no problems with Ter Stegen. He is the captain and we have a lot of respect for him, if the things between him and the club are on his way to be solved, that is best for everyone.

“I feel extremely comfortable. It is a completely different style than I am used to, but I think I adapt well and feel in excellent form.”

Joan Laporta reflected the claim that Barcelona was ready to seal all excellent before the trip to Mallorca next weekend.
