Newcastle United has passed a frustrating pre-season on and next to the field, and with the future of Alexander Isak still in the air, Alan Shearer van Magpies had his say about the latter
Alan Shearer has called Newcastle United to quickly resolve the constant uncertainty around Alexander Isak, after a “disaster” for the season. Liverpool and Isak have received a strict ultimatum through Newcastle – without a higher bid on the attacker there will be no switch to Anfield.
The Magpies have rejected an offer of £ 110 million from Liverpool, which are against submitting a second proposal while following the situation with Isak and the club. The striker is currently training away from his teammates in Darsley Park.
Newcastle -Baas Eddie Howe has already indicated that Isak will probably not be involved in their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday lunch. After a disturbing preview, Shearer begged the club to immediately decide on the future of Isak, so that they can continue.
In the rest, the football podcast, the Newcastle icon, said: “Disaster for the season. Absolute disaster. Where do I start? One victory. All the talk was about Isak.
“It has been a disaster for them, it really is.
“I thought it was time to go out and bring in three or four major players and I thought that would happen. I said about the Chief Executive and Sports Director, I think it is nonsense that they have not had it, or that has hindered them or not, I think it is that.
“They have to look up the situation with Isak as quickly as possible. I think he will stay until they get someone and Eddie might talk to him – if that is not possible, they should sell him).
“They just have to bring in some players. They still needed an attacker, so now they need two Center-Forwards.”
Newcastle is supposed to keep a larger offer on Liverpool. Initially, £ 150 million apparently was the amount that the magpies would convince to renounce the ex-real Sociedad Forward. But the chronicle now says a bid of £ 130 million-what a Premier League record would be its-plus add-ons can be sufficient to force a sale.
After setting 27 goals last season, Isak started the campaign for the season by appearing in the third kit launch of Newcastle alongside club legend Tino Asprilla in the Tyneside Irish Center. However, images of the striker have since been removed from the club shop.
This summer, Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest was £ 55 million, while AC Milan Centrum-back Malick Thiaw close to the sealing of a £ 35 million switch from the Italian giants.
The Newcastle preseason started with 1-0 defeats to Arsenal and Everton. A 4-0 triumph over Carlisle was then quickly followed by a 4-0 thrashing through the hands of Celtic. The magpies have since losing Arsenal again, a K-League XI and Atletico Madrid, although they have managed debates with Tottenham Hotspur and Espanyol.
