Marc Guehi transfer news: Liverpool still keen on Crystal Palace defender but will not overpay due to expiring contract

Liverpool is happy to continue to sign Crystal Palace-back Marc Guehi this summer.

However, they are not willing to pay too much for a player who has started the last year of his contract.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said that he might have to consider selling Guehi if the defender does not sign a new deal.

It is unlikely that the defender of England will sign a new contract in Palace. He was appreciated at £ 70 million last summer when Palace turned off a series of bids from Newcastle.

Guehi also has the option to see his contract and leave a lucrative free transfer next summer.

It is assumed that a number of large European clubs are interested in signing Guehi as a free agent at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Newcastle is not expected to be in the race for Guehi after he has agreed a deal for Malick Thiaw in the middle of AC Milan.

Tottenham, who also had an offer on Guehi that was rejected in the winter window, is on the market for a defender this summer, but their priority at this stage brings a winger and no. 10.

The Premier League champions are also interested in Parma's Teenage Center-back Giovanni Leoni.

Parma can be open to the sale of the 18-year-old for around £ 26 million (€ 30 million) plus bonuses.

The interest in Leoni is not expected to influence Liverpool's potential goal of Guehi.

Liverpool needs more experience at Center-Back and Ibrahima Konate enters the last year of his deal.
