Real Madrid has defeated the Austrian side WSG Tyrol in their only only season-friendly, with Xabi Alonso securing a 4-0 win in the Tivoli Stadium Tirol.
Match report
Real Madrid secured emphatic victory in one and only preseason, while Mbappe Nets Brace, Militao and Rodrygo on target.
Alonso chose to name a strong line-up for the competition, with summer signing sessions Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras who all started in the Defense-De Last appeared for the first time since his move from Benfica. The trio started next to Eder Militao, and it was the Brazilian defender who opened the score in Tyrol.
Militao, who scored a scandalous goal last week in Real Madrid's victory against Leganes, ran a header in the far corner after the cross of an Arda Guler. And only three minutes later the lead was doubled by Kylian Mbappe, who received the ball from Guler, turned around and shot along the sad tyrol goalkeeper.
Just before the hour Mark, Mbappe got his second and Real Madrid's third after being played by fellow countryman Aurelien Tchouameni before he completed the Tyrol goalkeeper and finished in an empty net.
The side of Alonso would complete the score at 82 minutes, and it was Rodrygo Goes – whose future generated a lot of speculation at Real Madrid in recent weeks – who found the back of the net after he came from the bank. On this occasion it was Mbappe that was provided, and he played the Brazilian forward in the overlap, so that he could score from a tight corner.
It was not a complete version of Real Madrid, but luckily Alonso will be enough with what he saw from his side. He and his players will now return to the Spanish capital, and their focus will go to their La Liga opener next Tuesday, which is against Osasuna in the Santiago Bernabeu.
