Newcastle could land a second signature in a week if they succeed in landing Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa
Newcastle wants to seal the signing of Aston Villa -midfielder Jacob Ramsey and they believe that serious progress can be made for the weekend -when they take on the Midlands outfit in their Premier League opener.
The Magpies have just signed their second signing of the summer in Malick Thiaw, who joined AC Milan, and now want to strengthen their midfield ranks. On Tuesday, the two clubs negotiated a fee that was supposed to be in the £ 40 million region, reports the Daily Mail.
Ramsey himself is enthusiastic about moving to St James' park, where he could play Champions League football, although there is rival interest in West Ham. Those in the northeast are convinced that they can land the midfielder, which will be a boost for Eddie Howe.
The Newcastle -Baas wants to ensure that he has six midfielders available for him and had seen his options fall to five after the sale of Sean Longstaff to Leeds.
Thiaw's signing for only £ 35 million was confirmed this week and the German will offer more quality at Center-Back, which was a priority for Newcastle this summer, because Howe seems to increase competition and lower the average age of an experienced team.
The player himself, covered by his country, admits that he was sold on the plans for the club. “The Gaffer showed me his vision and what he wants to do with me as a player and the club himself, which is really exciting,” he said. “I think Newcastle speaks for himself. It's a great club, a big club with passionate fans that I can't wait to see in St James' Park.”
The compelling priority of Newcastle in the last weeks of the transfer window, however, extends the Alexander Isak Saga. The attacker wants to move to Liverpool, who has seen their opening offer reject, and has made it clear that he does not want to play for the club again, even put his property on the market.
The magpies have assumed a hard attitude that he will not be sold, even if a new striker arrives. Howe had admitted that he was currently unable to record the Swede with the former REEELE Sociedad-Man who currently only trains while the team is preparing for their season opener without him.
