Ruben Amorim told when ‘crisis’ will start at Man Utd and when pressure mounts on him

Ruben Amorim was supported in Manchester United this summer, but former Red Devil defender Mikael Silvestre believes

Mikael Silvestre has told that Ruben Amorim's pressure on Manchester United will rise if he starts a losing series this season.

The Portuguese head coach led his side to a 15th placed Premier League finish last season, after taking over from Erik ten Hag in November. He was supported this summer at an amount of £ 200 million when United looks at the table.

Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all arrived in Old Trafford to strengthen Amorim's team, and Silvestre, who made more than 350 games for the Red Devils, believes that his work could be in danger if they could be in danger after a bad start.

“I don't think [Ruben] Amorim is under some pressure than any other manager in the Premier League, to be honest, “Silvestre told Ladbrokes exclusively.

“I think they are all under pressure, it's just that he is at Manchester United, and they have now spent a lot of money. It is the size of the club, in combination with the interest of the media making it feel that there is more pressure.

“There may be some pressure from the owners this season, but I would say that that is the same with any other club. Amorim will start this season under the same amount of pressure as any other manager; it is a new start.

“But if you start losing three games in a row and is yourself in that form, then the crisis will begin. That is when there is real pressure. For now everyone is at zero points, they must all be treated the same and everyone will be assessed against their goals for the season.”

After a promising transfer activity, Silvestre believes that the goal for United this season should be European football, but perhaps not the Champions League.

“As far as my expectations of the club are concerned this season, they have to qualify for Europe,” he continued. “The Champions League is not necessarily the target, but it is certain of European football of any kind.

“Of course everyone will always talk about the Champions League, but I just think that, given the lack of consistency last season, I am skeptical about their chances on that front.”

The defender also believes that jumping from a 15th placed finish to the top four can be a too long order, and has predicted a more modest top flight finish for his former club.

“As for where they end in the table, I would say maybe sixth or seventh? I don't see them in the top four or five,” the Frenchman said. “It is strange that says, to be honest. It just sounds so unknown when we are talking about Manchester United, but that is the position in which the club is now, unfortunately.

“You know, you have to be realistic about what the team has achieved in recent years. Ok, there are now new players, and a completely new dynamic. But with regard to dominating other teams and getting consistency, there are still many question marks in my opinion.”
